In the depths of the Seven Seas swims Nerissa, guardian of the ocean's most feared and hated creatures..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I needed a bit of break so I can work on Isabelle refreshed, creatively speaking. This has been swimming (haha) in my head for ages now. Nerissa's story: Loosely inspired by PotC. By that I mean, I thought it was interesting that for all the sailor lore touched upon in the films, mermaids and their kin weren't one of them. Siorc is the Irish Gaelic for shark. Why? The coast of Galway is one of Nerissa's favorite haunts and because some things just sound better not in English.  I love sharks, maybe even a touch more than I love orcas. Like any wild animals, sharks should be treated with respect and caution, but they do not deserve the loathing and reputation they have acquired. The entire ocean ecosystem would suffer without them. Anyway... They deserve someone to watch out for them. Style inspired largely by the old illustrations found in books like Grimm's fairytales. I recently found an old sketch book with a bunch of sketches I had done from those books, so...  Sketched in pencil on sketch book paper, inked in ZIG Millenium Archival Ink .05 and .01 pens. Final piece inked on tracing paper. In PhotoImpact 10, antique finish and border applied. No other edits. Please do not color this. Mahalo  |
